When Life Gets In The Way Of Mindful & Soulful Living

Many of us have experienced moments of clarity and inspiration when we decide to embark on a journey of personal growth. We set intentions, create new habits, and start to live with greater awareness and purpose. I wrote a blog in early 2022, my first one. It was how I was starting on a journey of personal growth, mindful living, soulful living, being my best self, I was going to take classes, meet new people, learn new practices. However, as time goes on, life can often get in the way, and our practices can fall by the wayside. For me it was the closing of my business, the illness and death of my father, then my mother's health. I just tuned out.

If you've experienced this, you're not alone. Life is full of unexpected challenges, and it's easy to get sidetracked from our goals and intentions. But it's important to remember that mindful living and just being connected is not an all-or-nothing endeavor. Even small, consistent efforts can make a difference in our overall well-being and quality of life.

Here are some tips for when life gets in the way of your soulful mindful living:

  1. Be gentle with yourself, it's important to approach your mindful living practices with compassion and understanding. If you've fallen off track, acknowledge that it's okay and be kind to yourself. Remember that the journey of mindful living is a process, and there will be ups and downs along the way.
  2. Set realistic goals. When life gets busy, it's easy to become overwhelmed and discouraged. To avoid this, set realistic goals for yourself. This might mean adjusting your meditation practice to a shorter amount of time or practicing mindful breathing during a busy workday.
  3. Incorporate mindfulness into your daily routine. Incorporating mindfulness into your daily routine can help make it a habit. This could mean taking a few deep breaths before getting out of bed in the morning or practicing mindful eating during your lunch break.
  4. Find accountability and support. Having accountability and support can make a big difference in staying on track with your mindful living practices. This could mean joining a mindfulness group or partnering with a friend who is also interested in mindful living.

In conclusion, life is full of ups and downs, and it's easy to get sidetracked from our goals and intentions. But by approaching our mindful and soulful living practices with compassion, setting realistic goals, incorporating mindfulness into our daily routine, and finding accountability and support, we can continue on our journey of mindful soulful living. Remember, it's not about being perfect, but rather about being present and intentional in each moment.
